Warm Summer Days: A Sonnet
I've already used these lyrics, chopped and changed, in song: Deficient Hearts
In supplication do I entreat,
Favours delightful spark,
Awaken all succubi, all lower score beast,
And give sustenance to mine deficient heart:
Deceitful thoughts of plenty,
Plague men’s lifes, fueling Hell's fires,
Come devour the slumbering gentry,
Harken and heed my desires:
Thou sun hast departed,
No summer frolic to be had,
Shade hast drifted into darkness,
I entreat thee to renew once again:
Haste for thy rousing grows,
I doth call upon weak walls of will,
As thy supplicant, I bequeath to thee thy foes,
And in patience I await thy Summer thrill:
Each now rests in sweet nights embrace,
Each lies upon his doom,
Thy worms, they pray you make haste,
Fear and hate enshrouds mine dark goddesses moon:
Each pompous passions pride,
Flames the darkest night,
A common foe, all beasts allied,
Doth wait to exact their price:
Take pity on a world in perpetual sleep,
And partake of cruelties burden,
Writhing in riches they did not reap,
While grounding the masses, confused and uncertain:
In supplication do I entreat,
Come taketh thy fill, all succubi and beast,
In shame and flame, and beguiling deceit,
Doth thy foe rule above thee; all laggards and priests:
Preach do they, a dominion above thine own,
And doth the powerful perceive thy kingdom,
Allied with deception draped in royal robes,
Pronouncing thine own self-substantial wisdom:
Rise to the graveyard,
Fresh soiled from the deep,
Come take of your bounty,
Come take thy priests:
None shall hover above thy grace,
Come all succubi and beasts,
Come to thee pretender’s graves,
And on an abundance of lies shall you feast:
Return to the people,
All seasons now past,
Return to your brethren,
Secrets you impart:
Earth rulers inflated thine own wealth,
Have debated, and stated, fortuous lives,
And on thy backs do they invent a land's health,
But their riches, their due, grow from strife:
Come feast on thy rulers,
Set one thousand year of yore,
The time hast come to thwart manoeuvres,
To ground to ash, to crush and restore:
Return to the lands,
All seasons now past,
Lay waste to the sands,
Thy ruler’s deceitful hearts:
A balance lost in past dreams wishes,
Crumbling satire of humour and woe,
The detriment of life in exchange for riches,
Come take thy voices and perverted foes:
I petition thee beasts, come take famines rulers,
Their words feast above thy kingdom below:
Sallow hands clasp in supplication,
Cracked dry lips make this plea,
Mine eyes foresee our world broken forever,
Hear do I their plans for thee,
Feel do I the restless nether:
Come take deaths embrace,
Shrouding thy lands,
Hiding a Summer’s haze,
Cleanse them in the fires of promise,
Strip the powerful with thine own hands:
Renew a world lost, my dark goddess below,
And with your grace, divinely astray,
Disembarrass times hands of deceptions plateau,
And renew the loss of warm Summer days.
